Access Statement For Kearton Country Hotel


Introduction

Set in the village of Thwaite North Yorkshire, Kearton Country Hotel has twelve en-suite bedrooms all having recently been refurbished to a very high standard.

  • Pre-Arrival
    • We are located just off the main road as you reach the village of Thwaite.
    • There is a bus stop at the side of the main road just out side the hotel which has a regular bus service.
    • There are only a limited number of local taxi services which can be booked with prior notice. We can supply contact numbers so that you can make a booking if required.
    • Menus can be provided in large print if necessary we regret we do not have the facilities to prepare documents in Braille.

  • Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
    • Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are there to welcome you.
    • To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 1pm, earlier arrival may, however, be possible by arrangement.
    • Parking is to the rear of the building with ample room for guest's cars.
    • o We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required.
  • Main Entrance & Reception
    • The entrance to Kearton Country Hotel is either through the reception which has a slightly raised threshold, or through the rear entrance which is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
    • Reception closes at 9pm prompt.
    • On arrival guests are required to complete our registration form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities explained.
    • Seating is provided in our lounge.
    • All pricing is available at both entrances.
    • Additional keys are available on request.
  • Public Areas - General (Internal)
    • Our dinning room is situated on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible along with the guest lounge, which is situated to the front of the building and has an entrance/exit of 85cm wide and is carpeted
    • The covering on the stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile fitted carpet. There are 13stairs leading to the first floor with 12 bedroom(1 single, 6 double, 3 twin, 2 family with one double and one single beds in each, all of which are en-suite).

    • The stairs are 20cm high 34cm deep and 120cm wide.
  • Public Areas - WC
    • All 12 bedrooms are en-suite, there is a public WC available
  • Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges
    • Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor the entry is level and the door width is 83cm
    • There are 16 tables, with a mixture seating between 4-6 people. Chairs are without arms and tables are 76cm high
    • Menus may be provided in larger print by prior arrangement.
    • Vegetarian and other diets can be catered for.
    • Guests are welcome to use the lounge at any time. Straight back chairs can be moved into the lounge from the dining room but space is limited.
    • The lounge has a mixture of sofas and chairs and is carpeted.
  • Shop
    • The nearest shopping facility is a 20 minute drive to the town of Hawes. A wide range of shops are available in Hawes town centre or at the smaller village of Muker which is 1 mile away from the hotel a much smaller choice of shops are available
  • Outdoor Facilities
    • Our outside area is blocked paved and provides guests with patio tables and chairs. Also the garden has a selection of tables and chairs for guest use.
  • Bedrooms
    • Central heating is fitted throughout the house. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds are made with synthetic duvets in the winter months and sheets and blankets in summer. All pillows are synthetic.
    • Each bedroom has a 'hospitality tray' with tea, coffee and biscuits.
    • In each room there is a hairdryer, a clock radio/alarm.
    • Each room has storage space which consists of wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and leather chair.
    • Separate seating is available in each room.
    • Guests are provided with soft fluffy towels and luxury toiletries.
    • Average bed height is 58cm average width of doorways (room entrance) is 80cm. In en-suite doorways average width is 73cm average WC height is 40cm average height of wash basins is 80cm

      • First floor. En-suite with two single beds.
    • Room 3.
      • First Floor en-suite room with one single bed.
    • Room 4
      • First floor en-suite room with double bed.

      • First floor en-suite, with 2 single beds
    • Room 6.
      • First floor Ensuite, with one double bed
    • Room 7.
      • First floor en-suite with 1 double bed
    • Room 8.
      • First floor. En-suite with one double bed and one single bed
    • Room 9.
      • First Floor en-suite with bath room, with one double bed.
    • Room 10.
      • First floor en-suite room with one double bed and one single bed.
    • Room 11.
      • First floor en-suite, with 2 single beds.
    • Room 12.
      • First floor Ensuite, with one double bed
    • All rooms have ample storage with wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and leather chair, shower en-suite unless stated where a bath replaces the shower.
  • Grounds and Gardens
    • To the rear of the property we have a block paved patio area with patio table and chairs available to the guests. And large garden area with tables and chairs.
  • Additional Information
    • Unfortunately we do not accept pets, unless they are for use for disabilities.
    • Fire extinguishers are located on all floors and we are able to use the front, rear and side entrances should evacuation be necessary.
    • The fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (e.g hearing impairment) please let us know on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely.
    • We are happy to refrigerate any medication. We can also keep any perishables (such as Creams or food) in our fridge for a limited period.
    • We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us before your arrival.
    • A selection of local information is available in our display in the entrance hall.
    • There are 2 folders in each bedroom, 1 detailing all the routines and emergencies and general information for guests and 1 which gives tourist in formation about the surrounding areas.
