There are many local festivals, shows and exhibitions to visit throughout the year in Swaledale and the neighbouring Dales such as Wensleydale.
As well as events there is always plenty do see and do in the Northern Dales. There are many craft workshops, visitor attractions and museums in the area that are open all year round. Located on the Pennine Way and two miles from the Coast to Coast walk and at the foot of Shunner Fell and Kisdon Hill, Thwaite is an ideal centre for walkers all year round.
Springtime sees new lambs and wildflower meadows, summer days leave time for long walks, touring or simply admiring the breathtaking views, autumn turns the scenery to copper and golds with the hint of heather, winter brings crisp, frosty mornings with the sun slowly creeping over Kisdon Hill - a typical Christmas card scene.
Swaledale Woollens sell handmade clothes made from local wool.
